No. CopyBack is a Google Chrome extension. It can only record copies that occur inside standard webpage tabs running in the Google Chrome browser. It cannot read clipboard changes triggered inside desktop apps, other web browsers, your operating system, or restricted Chrome pages (such as Chrome settings or the Web Store).
Your history is saved locally inside your Chrome browser profile directory using Chrome's secure storage API (`chrome.storage.local`). The data is fully sandboxed on your physical hard drive and is never uploaded, synced, or backed up to any cloud endpoints.
Absolutely not. CopyBack has no remote servers, no syncing APIs, and no telemetry databases. All network connectivity is blocked. Your clipboard items stay exclusively on your local computer.
Yes. Open the CopyBack popup interface, click the gear icon in the top right to open the settings panel, and toggle off the "Show Save Notification" switch. This will silence the confirmation toasts that appear in the browser window during copy events.
Yes. Inside the extension's settings panel, you can choose to auto-delete items after 30, 90, or 180 days, or select "Never" to keep history indefinitely. Pinned items and Favorites are automatically preserved and are never deleted by cleanup schedules.
Chrome allocates a generous, sandboxed storage quota for local extensions. If this quota is exceeded, CopyBack's database helper automatically searches for the oldest unpinned and unfavorited clipboard item, deletes it to clear buffer space, and stores the new copy without breaking operation.
