How does PurchaseVault work?
PurchaseVault runs locally inside your browser. Once installed, it listens securely for completed purchase confirmation pages on supported shopping websites. When you complete an order, it automatically extracts relevant receipt parameters (merchant, amount, date, and order items) and commits them directly to local browser storage.
Does it support Amazon?
Yes, PurchaseVault supports major online merchants, including Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, and Apple. We regularly update our parser definitions to support tracking across additional merchants.
Where is my data stored?
All purchase tracker entries are stored directly in your local Chrome extension sandbox space via the browser's chrome.storage.local API. It is not written to external host directories, nor is it stored in temporary system folders.
Does it upload my purchase history?
Absolutely not. PurchaseVault is built around privacy. We do not maintain remote cloud database endpoints, and we never transmit your tracked purchase history over the network. Your logs stay exclusively under your direct custody.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can download your tracked purchase history as a structured CSV spreadsheet file directly from the extension home screen, which you can load into Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or other accounting applications.
How do I manually add purchases?
Open the extension popup and click the "+ Add" link. You can fill out custom fields, including Merchant, Amount, Date, Category, and Order items. This lets you account for manual cash transactions or tracking across unsupported websites.
