Welcome to PurchaseVault (the "Extension"), a Chrome browser extension built by developer Akshat Pandey. Your digital privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We designed PurchaseVault under a strict zero-data-collection philosophy. This Privacy Policy outlines exactly how the Extension handles your information, confirming that all records remain on your local system under your exclusive custody.
Information Collection
PurchaseVault is designed to automatically record, organize, and analyze your online purchase history. To provide these tracking services, the Extension reads relevant receipt data during successful checkout events on supported shopping websites.
The types of information processed include:
- Merchant Information: Store name and URL (e.g. Amazon, Flipkart).
- Order Parameters: Purchase date, transaction amount, and item details.
- Identifiers: Order ID numbers generated by the merchant.
Crucial Notice: This processing is performed entirely client-side. The Extension executes parsing algorithms inside your browser sandbox to capture the receipt data and write it directly to your browser's internal memory. No data is sent back to our servers, and we have no access to your purchase history.
Data Storage & Syncing
All purchase records, spending logs, analytics summaries, and category tags are saved directly on your local device.
- No Accounts Required: You do not need to create a profile, supply your email, or log in to use PurchaseVault.
- Local-Only Storage: Data is committed to the browser's sandbox environment via Chrome's native offline storage mechanism.
- No Cloud Sync in Version 1: PurchaseVault does not employ server syncing or cloud replication endpoints. Your data remains stored exclusively on the physical hardware you are using. Deleting the Chrome Extension will permanently remove all stored purchase history.
Browser Permissions & Usage
To perform its core functions within the Chrome web browser, PurchaseVault requires specific technical permissions:
- Storage Permission: Used to read and write your purchase records to the Chrome sandboxed database locally on your device.
- Website Access / Content Script Permissions: Used to run parser scripts on supported shopping portals. This is required to detect completed checkout pages (e.g., confirmation screens) and extract purchase parameters for your log.
These permissions are used solely to deliver the Extension's core offline utilities and are never utilized for background trackers or profile aggregation.
Data Sharing
Because we do not collect, transmit, or host your purchase tracker information, PurchaseVault does not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties.
There are no third-party analytic trackers, marketing scripts, or advertising networks embedded within the Extension.
Security
Your purchase logs remain entirely under your control. Because all database writes occur within your browser's private local workspace, the security of your data depends on your device's overall safety. We recommend keeping your web browser updated and utilizing device-level encryption (such as BitLocker or FileVault) to protect files stored on your hardware.
Future Updates
In future releases, we may introduce cloud-based syncing or backup capabilities to let users access logs across multiple devices. If we implement these features:
- They will be entirely **opt-in**.
- You will be explicitly informed of how the sync functions.
- No data will leave your device unless you actively enable the cloud sync feature.
